It was a wonderful turnout of 22 sisters at the June luncheon at Cumberland Country Club. It was certainly a time of celebration for the 90th birthday of Delta Kappa Gamma and the 60th birthday of our Eta Chapter. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kim Sloane. An inspirational message was provided by Michelle Saville. She read the book, “I Wish You More” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Lom Lichtenholt. She then presented it to Jayla Evans, our scholarship recipient. Jayla graduated from Allegany High School and will be pursuing a degree in Education at West Virginia University. For an ice breaker, we shared our stories. Florence Saku was installed as Second Vice President. To celebrate Eta’s 60th birthday, Kim prepared a PowerPoint presentation showing the photographs of the founders of Eta Chapter. Members role-played with scripts, also prepared by Kim. It was wonderful to learn more about the women behind Eta Chapter. We also celebrated membership anniversaries through the presentation of “rockers” - pins that show years of membership. Kim Sloane and Judy McKenzie, 5 years; Donna Carter, Sandy Stevens, and Dottie Turner, 20 years; Karen Bonner, 25 years; Nancy House, 35 years; Marilyn Stevenson, 40 years; Jane Belt, 45 years; Doris Giornesto, 50 years, and Gladys Fajerty, 55 years. Here’s hoping for another special year with our sisters.
